Christmas Car Jacker Fraud - Posting Nineteen

Look out shoppers! This is the time of year that everyone is racing around doing their last minute shopping and preparing for celebrations with family and friends. The malls are packed and so is the back seat of your car. Well criminals are lurking and looking for ways to take advantage of your good cheer. I have heard of a new method for car jacking that I thought you should know about.

You have finished your shopping for the day and go out to your car in the parking lot, unlock it, store your parcels and get inside. After starting the engine your check your rear view in preparation to reverse out of the parking spot. You realize that something is stuck to your rear windshield and is obscuring your view. You shift into park and jump out to remove the paper. As you reach the back of your car a car jacker appears out of nowhere, jumps into your car and practically mows you down as he speeds off in your car with your purse and all of the packages that you have just finished purchasing.

Not only have you lost your car and all your gifts but the criminal has your keys, your money, your address and all the other personal information you carry in your wallet. Your home and your identity have now been compromised.
Spoof Email Fraud is a numbers game for the fraudster. They will send out millions of emails everyday and only need a small percentage of recipients to respond to collect enough information to make money. Don’t let that money be yours. Other tips to avoiding this type of fraud are available by Clicking on Fraud Library and reviewing the tips attached to each Fraud type.

Be careful. Check your car before you get in to make sure everything is ok. Lock your doors and keep on driving. As long as it is safe to do so, wait until later to remove any obstructions on your rear windshield. It may be a bit awkward to check around the obstruction but the car jacker will have to go looking for another victim.

Safe and Happy Holidays to all.
